I've howled my sorrow,
for my empty soul.
My footsteps seemed to be unheard as I took a stroll down the street. I knew just what I was doing and it excited me. I could be caught at anytime by those pathetic two legged humans, but I wouldn't. My smell, my eyes, even my brains seemed to be better than their own. Stupid creatures, they were. It seemed I was always thinking ahead of them and that suited me fine. It meant I toyed with them, gave them a bite, and got the hell out. A perfect...plan. Though I knew how to fight, I am logic enough to not try and kill a human, unless I had to of course. However, I know that if I did it wouldn't be a group. They are stronger in groups like lupine in a pack. If me, Florence, ever had to kill one I knew just what my plan would be. I'd die trying or I'd get away. I wasn't going to rest myself in their grimy hands that reeked of perfume and lotions. My nares expanded as I caught the smell of meat. Fresh, raw meat. I breathed in deeply and paused for a moment. I was in the shadows, of course and with the night taking away all light, I was safe. I relished in this smell for a moment, wondering what it would be like to have such a piece of meat. Something instead of rabbit or garbage. A deep sigh rushed the breath I just just pulled in, out. I didn't let myself think what it would be like to be a house dog, a pet. Those animals couldn't fight for the hid on their back let alone their humans. It often made me laugh to see such a sight though I normally didn't see many pets on the streets now and days. Hell, I barely see anymore strays on the streets which is fine by me. I like having more than my fair share of food. Makings me worry a bit less.
The slender bitch was nothing but a mere shadow as she strolled down the wall way, carefully looking for a bit to eat before retiring to her home, a small shack that gave her more than enough as far as shelter went. The colorings on her body gave way to the breeds that rushed through her bloodlines. Rottweiler, not doubt, with those tan markings and knotted eyebrows that seemed to bob up and down with something interested her. Four of her lengthy pillars were a deep tan as well. Her armpits were also the color tan and they were odd markings. An ebony pelt sheltered her back and most of her face and tail. The underside side of her was a mix of tan and white while her front paws were all white. A stained white from walking the streets for so long. A compact muzzle sniffed the air in search of different smells and a black triangled nose moved around. However, the Pit Bull was seen in her every moment. The aggregation, the swift movements that were placed with lethal grace. Florence was indeed a muscled canine and not one to be bothered with when placed in a bad mood. The female stopped for a moment as her dark brown, almost black, orbs scanned for humans. Her soft ears perked as she caught the sound of voices. A growl rumbled her vocal cords before she ducked quickly into an alley way. Nothing was seen as she was covered by shadow. Her orbs watched as a group of four humans walked by, a mixed gender group. The males were rank with a testosterone smell while the female's normally smell was clouded with that of perfume. The strong smells reached Florence's nose and she wished to gag. Discussing. How they could they stand the smell of themselves, let alone one another? She didn't get, but it didn't matter. They were fickle creatures she didn't both to understand all of. Only what she needed to know.
Quickly, as the humans disappeared around a bend in the sidewalk, she strolled out. Instead of a faster walk, she trotted. Black talons clipped against the cement, but other than that she made little to no noise. Both of the stores and restaurants were closed now and that meant starting a bit of trouble. Florence loved to watch storekeeper's faces when they walked out to find that their alley way was littered with garbage. Priceless. Trotting a bit faster now, Florence carefully shifted her petite form to turn to the right and the smell got stronger. It seemed she was almost right on top of it when she halted and turned her smaller dome. Warily, she walked into the alley. Her breath was barely heard, but to Florence it seemed as if someone was breathing right down her neck. Her hackles prickled at the thought of being watched, but she doubted anyone would be up at midnight. Smirking lightly when she heard no human, she pounced upon a tin can and it fell to the ground as she moved and shifted her weight down. It fell to the ground with a clash and a bang, but Florence doubted that they'd come. Chuckling to herself, she ripped apart a few things before finding a large steak bone. She began to hum to herself as she picked up the bone and carried it a distance away from the rest of what she had knocked over. The bone still contained from of the fat. She licked her lips and then began chewing on the bone. The tasty treat of fat made her taste buds tickled with pleasure. A great reward for a day of surviving.
Thinking that it would return,
It didn't and so I left there.
